Snorkeling

The abundant waters of the surrounding marine reserve make the Galapagos a world-class, year-round snorkeling destination. Where else can you swim with a wide array of colorful tropical fish, sharks, rays, playful sea lions, sea turtles, and even penguins in a single day? Popular snorkeling spots include Devil’s Crown, a sunken volcanic crater that attracts sea lions that enjoy blowing bubbles into snorkelers’ faces; Pinnacle Rock, where bright parrot fish and Galapagos penguins glide gracefully through the water; and Xarifa, or Turtle Rock, which is a great place to see white-tip reef sharks, scorpion fish, sting rays, and sea turtles. Snorkeling is offered on virtually every Galapagos cruise, but check with your tour operator to make sure equipment is provided.
